The hitched.co.uk website was established in 1997 by Dean Yardley. When planning for his wedding, which was to take place in the summer of that year, he made use of the Internet to try and find out information such as order of speakers, responsibility of speakers, seating arrangements etc. Recognising the difficulty he and his best man faced finding any information on UK weddings, he promptly registered the domain name hitched.co.uk and began building a website to help others in the same situation.

Now rated as the UK’s number one wedding planning website by Hitwise, Comscore and Google Adplanner, on an average month the hitched.co.uk site receives in the region of 6.7 million page views, from 1 million visits with an average of 610,000 unique visitors. Average dwell time on hitched.co.uk is about 11 minutes with a visitor viewing approximately 7 pages.

The fact that our business has been gradually built over a number of years has meant that we have been able to keep costs to a minimum and therefore retain 100% private ownership of the company. This gives us a totally secure future and also allows us the flexibility of reacting instantly to our customer’s individual requirements.

This large website is operated by a team of just 17 people in the UK, plus a small team of software developers in India, and sales team in Australia.

  • 2011 — For the 2nd year running, named the No.1 website in the Experian Hitwise UK Top 10 Awards in the category Lifestyle - Weddings Industry.
  • 2011 — Recognised by comScore, a leader in measuring the digital world, as most poopular wedding website for April.
  • 2011 — Websites launched in Canada (hitched.ca) and South Africa (hitched.co.za)
